Hawkins couple accused of trafficking meth at Church Hill Inn - Kingsport Times News
Apr 20, 2019Sunday, Church Hill Police Department Detective Kevin Grigsby and Officer Ethan Mays responded to complaints of drug activity taking place in room 116 of the Church Hill Inn, 1142 Volunteer St. on the west end of Church Hill.That room belonged to Timothy Shawn Dennis, 40, and his wife Ashley Dawn Dennis, 29.Upon their arrival, the officers reportedly observed Timothy Dennis driving a silver Nissan Sentra in the motel parking lot. The officers knew he had an expired drivers license. When they tried to stop him, he allegedly fled out of the parking onto Volunteer Street and then onto Fudges Chapel Road.After traveling about a quarter mile northbound on Fudges Chapel Road, Mays was able pull his patrol car in front of the Nissan and get it stopped.Upon being searched Dennis was allegedly found to be in possession of a plastic container holding an unspecified amount of meth in his pants pocket. A police scanner was located in the vehicle, along with a black notebook containing records of alleged drug transactions.Timothy Dennis was taken to jail, and Ashley Dennis, who was a passenger in the Nissan, was escorted back to the motel room, where she signed a consent to search form.In the room, police allegedly located pipes, syringes, scales, torch lighters, drug ledgers and more suspected meth in a plastic container.Timothy Dennis allegedly stated there was also a substance in the room he identified as MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), which is a white powder substance used as a painkiller and allergen and also used to cut meth due to its resemblance to meth.Timothy Dennis gave a statement at the jail that all of the items seized in the motel room were his and that his wife wasn't involved. He was charged with felony evading arrest, possession of meth with intent to deliver, maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are used, sold or stored, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on an expired license and no insurance.At the time of his arrest, Timothy Dennis was free on bond for charges including four counts of felony rec...
